2 weeks in with new online student a 3hcp golfer who had been struggling.

We started working on getting the upper hub more stacked on top of the lower hub in the downswing.

No more hanging back and start lines to the right. Started the journey on pressure boards as used in one of my previous posts. Next is to get the arms sorted out to match the body patterns.

I swing my best when I can feel my trail arm not fly behind me. Anyone else relate?

1st lesson new student - Key points below and next video. Testing early on showed us a path on average of 10 degrees out to in. Typical over the top move.

Spent lots of time discussing what is happening in his swing and discussed in detail of what is required. It’s tough changing patterns! Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.

KEY POINTS
▪️Ball position further forward.
▪️Stand one hand span away.
▪️Shorter arm swing, This helps limit the over the top.
▪️Allowing the arms to fall in the downswing, this is allowed by slowing down the rotation rates of the body early on.
▪️Swing right.

Now the above was done yes, but it will take plenty of training to do this with out me in attendance and eventually take it the course.

SHORT GAME - A term I use a lot when teaching and

SHORT GAME - A term I use a lot when teaching and even described in a recent IG post is “body up club down” this allows the handle to work up through the ball and not down.

The reason for this post is to help clarify that trying to stay down too long through your short game shots will cause your arms to bunch up as you are too close to the ground.

This new online student of mine who recently subscribed constantly hits heavy shots and some times whiffs the ball. I have explained to him over our initial zoom consultation on the reasons why. He has issues in regards to his arm structure and shaft conditions on the way back which doesn’t help.

I thought this post would be helpful to the masses and offer some insight to what Tiger does and maybe you should too.

Lastly think of this if you stand in front of a wall hold your arms out and walk in closer to the wall. What happens to your arms? Think of this as the same when chipping.

STUDENT APPRECIATION POST - I’m really happy for

STUDENT APPRECIATION POST - I’m really happy for my student Nick.
I’m not posting this as much to show you the differences etc but just to show the amount of hard work that he has done over the winter. He has now gone from big slices to hitting push draws.

I find It can easy enough to understand what is needed but recalibrating your brain to understand concept of what the swing should feel like is the tough bit. (Putting it in to practice)

It’s been a fun winter for Nick and it is now golfing season so it’s time to shine. Early feedback is, it isn’t easy converting the ‘new swing’ to course play. But his buddies are super impressed that he is now hitting draws. Once the greens get back to good shape we can start collecting some statistics and see where we can start lowering the score.

Is this swing perfect? Absolutely not. Are coaches posting too many ‘model swings’ of the top 5% of their students? Probably. Am I guilty of this? Yes I am!
